Robin Rihanna Fenty being name Humanitarian of the Year by the prestigious Harvard University
The Officers and members of the Democratic Labour Party took note of the recent pronouncement made on the honor conferred on the Barbadians’ super star Robin Fenty known as Rihanna. We join ALL Barbadians and the world in congratulating this daughter of the soil for this achievement and her many more accomplishments in such a short space of time.
The young Bajan Star was recently named Humanitarian of the Year by the prestigious Harvard University. The Award is to be presented on February 28th, 2017. This award demonstrates this bajan superstar has shined not only on stage but also off stage. Barbados and our health care system both derived excellent benefits from her kindness.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital now has an upgraded center for oncology for cancer due to the donation which was made in memory of her late grandmother, who died of cancer
The 29-year-old pop star’s generous donation led to the radiotherapy department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Bridgetown, being renamed the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, in memory of her ‘Gran Gran Dolly.’ The money paid for these three (3) vital pieces of equipment was worth more than $3.5 million Barbados dollars.
Rihanna has also created a special college scholarship fund in the USA for Caribbean students. She has also worked as a Global Citizen to assist in furthering the education of kids in over sixty countries.
It is no secret she has sold over 200 million records and she has received at a very early age in her career MTV’s Lifetime achievement award. She was the recipient of many Grammy awards.
Rihanna represents Barbados and demonstrates the mettle of talent we have waiting to be unearthed. To this end, The DLP is therefore encouraging young artists to take advantage of the recently passed Cultural industries Act
Once again, we salute you for truly demonstrating that with success there must be value and you have combined both to produce Rihanna the bajan star.
