Barbadians be aware that Owen Arthur is tired with his bunch, Finally Owen have said he respects the Democratic Labour Party, He has also admitted defeat at the Polls come January 15th 2008, it is every man for himself with a disenchanted Leader who have lost control to special interest Groups, the BLP have no answers for the Working Class People of Barbados,we all know you cannot serve two Masters.
The DLP must be Vigilant at all times as every nasty trick in the Book will be pulled by a Bunch who never had the interest of of th most Vulnerable at Heart.

The News that caught my eyes was the Minister of nothing saying it was going to be even harder for Barbadians, with the European Union and the Euro at it's strongest, the Canadian Economy at its strongest with Surpluses, and the Canadian Goverment giving Personal Tax reductions so too is Value added Taxes reduced. It makes me wonder where Minister Mottley gets her News from. The News is that Canadians are going across the Border for cheaper prices with a weak American Dollar which was created by Americans in the Housing Market. A dollar is a dollar and the prices hav'ent changed on my last Visit, it is better for everyone . Mia must be talking about the mess that was made by PM Owen Arthur and the BLP, do not be confuse Mia, this Election is about Accountabilty with the Public's Purse, the People will not be sidetracked with BLP Propaganda, The Barbados Labour Party have failed the People of Barbados, and the most Vulnerable at that. The Working Poor, is there no shame? no remorse, Well Mascoll said he will do it all over again. Food for thought. This BLP is a Desperate Bunch.

I am so far impressed with the quality of your campaign thus far. Keep the standard high, don't sink to the level of gutter behaviour, there's simply no need when the current government possesses such an abysmal record of performance. Keep it clean, address the issues, be up front and honest with the people, and the rewards will be great!

I know where my 'X' will be going!

what will be done to ensure that all speechs from the upcoming campaign be placed on your website the day after (at the latest) that they are made? Currently you are lacking in this department. Also what will be done to ensure that I can go back and see "old" speeches? Your current website format doesn't seem to allow "old" speeches to be displayed, e.g. I can't seem to access George Hutson's launch speech anymore.

'I don't know of Hardwood'

BUSINESSMAN Phillippe Taitt vehemently denies having any knowledge of Hardwood Housing Factory when he executed services on behalf of Pyramid Designs back in 2006.

He was speaking to the WEEKEND NATION on Tuesday via telephone from his CLICO office, where he is also a manager, in response to allegations during last Tuesday's no-confidence motion in the House of Assembly.

He said he was not and had never been involved with the "Hardwood affair".

Taitt said Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance Clyde Mascoll approached him about sourcing contacts and wood out of Guyana, but that he made no indication it was for a company called Hardwood Housing Factory.

"One of the companies I represent [Pyramid Designs Inc.] was on an assignment that was requested by Mr Mascoll; we delivered," he claimed.

Taitt maintained he had never been solicited by Hardwood to source materials on behalf of the company because at the time he was contacted to perform his duties, no such company existed.

"There was not really a situation of Hardwood . . . . There was no company named Hardwood at that time. I never knew of a company by that name at that time. He asked me to do this service and I did," he said. (MS)

Dose it get any better????

by MARIA BRADSHAW

A WOMAN is said to be at the centre of the Opposition party's focus on Clyde Mascoll and Hardwood Housing Factory.

This was revealed yesterday at the Barbados Labour Party's (BLP)

annual general conference, during

an unscheduled speech by Mascoll, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office.

While Mascoll was not listed among the speakers on the agenda, Deputy Prime Minister Mia Mottley asked

for him to be given privilege to speak on the controversial issue after she charged that a non-national woman who was employed at Hardwood had tried to get her salary moved from $4 000

to $11 000 a month.

Opposition Leader David Thompson has made repeated calls on the BLP Government to investigate Hardwood and has questioned Mascoll's role in it.

Packed room

Before a standing room only crowd, Mascoll said it was this "disgruntled woman" who after she was fired "sought solace in the Opposition" and gave it information which, according to him, Thompson never checked.

He said the woman, who had a senior position at Hardwood, was fired after she attempted to pay herself and move her salary from $4 000 to $11 000.

"When asked to rescind it she refused and therefore she was fired," Mascoll told the BLP members.

Waving several papers, a fired up Mascoll issued a warning to Thompson that he was preparing for the threatened no-confidence motion

and was counting down the days.

"Thompson does not possess the qualities to lead Barbados anywhere. He thought Hardwood would have caused him to infiltrate the ranks. Hardwood ain't had no money to give me or anybody. Tony [Anthony Murrell] is just a simple Barbadian fella who has substantial skills in building houses and joinery. If I had the opportunity again to facilitate another poor Barbadian citizen I would do it over

and over and over again," Mascoll said to thunderous applause.

Turning to Mottley, Mascoll told those present not to worry about the talk and the results of the CADRES Poll published two weeks ago "trying to drive a wedge between me and Mottley".

He told Mottley: "You have what it takes. You are intelligent and capable.

I am not here to fight anybody. Don't be like Thompson and see me as a threat."

The Democratic Labour Party is why I am proud to be BAJAN, Thanks to the now decease Honourable Errol Walton Barrow, who made sure Barbadians had the tools to work anywhere in the World, He made sure that Education was a priority, Barbadians any where in the World are proud to be Barbadians, because of the battles we fought for equality in our own Country from Colonial Rule, we know that there have been a setback, by a Goverment that have lost it's way, that was being Polite, as The Prime Minister was looking for a Job before he became Prime Minister, Barbadians must remember when Owen Arthur was elevated to Opposition Leader George Payne walked away from that meeting in the Opposition Chamber in Parliament, if my memory serves me right, the Goverment of the Day is suppose to look after the interest of all Barbadians, and not just the special interest Groups, The Democratic Labour Party warned Barbadians like themselves before, I would like BARBADIANS TO THINK of the Period between 1981 -1986. The Right Honourable Errol Walton Barrow and the DLP mounted Platforms across the Island ,one of those Speakers on those Platforms was a Young DEM in the Name Of David Thompson , The Right Honourable Errol Walton Barrow was proud of the Legacy that he was leaving in Human development , knowing people like David Thompson had embraced the philosophy of the Democratic Labour Party to continue the fight for working class people. I can testify that I am proud to see the Young Dems are the ones taking the fight for the people today, The right Honourable Errol Walton Barrow's Legacy would have been in Human Development for every Barbadian , Mr David Thompson ,Mr Chris Sinkler,Mr Freundel Stuart, Mr Richard Sealy to name a few share the same Ideology.

The Prime Minister said David Thompson was in Canada talking to Canadians about Barbados, well to set the record straight Mr David Thompson was talking to Barbadians who will think twice about living there again if there is no transparency in Goverment as we know the meaning of true representation, Mr Thompson's Idea's were embraced and those of the Demorcratic Labour Party.
The Barbadians that live throughout the World do not have to wait to find out what is going on there
the internet is one of the best tools for info, the Nation and the Advocate we do read, and you can view the Partisan reports, Barbadians must demand more from the Goverment.

The Goverment is talking about building a Hospital 700 million Dollars, The Democratic Labour Party was rebuilding St Joseph Hospital in the Nineties ,how far ahead in thinking was the Dems. The People of St Thomas were promise the removal of Mt stinkeeroo as it was then called, three terms in office where is Mount Stinkeeroo located ST Thomas, Is it lip service or steel in dey, Barbadians must know the Judas by now. How many of you can afford to go to the US for your Health, ask Minister Clarke, as you must have Insurance , 10 days in Hospital in the us Can ran into several Thousand dollars, yet all the working class Barbadian have is the QEH.

Untill next time Greetings to all .

"I HAVE DONE nothing wrong. All I have tried to do is assist a small black man convert an idea - given he had no money or capital - into a project. I'm not an owner of Hardwood, nor a part owner."

This mixture of affirmation and emotion characterised the reply by Minister of State Clyde Mascoll in the House of Assembly to a no-confidence motion brought against him yesterday by Leader of the Opposition David Thompson.

Mascoll, admitting that he tried his best to help Hardwood Housing Factory's owner Anthony Murrell establish a way to provide low-income housing for Barbadians, said the allegation that he sourced material for this company was "blatantly untrue".

He told the Lower Chamber that when the company was advertised in the daily newspapers, two companies from Guyana called and requested a visit at the Ministry of Finance. He said a subsequent meeting on October 10 between himself, Murrell and another Barbadian had involved discussion of the sourcing of lumber from Guyana.

Mascoll added that Hardwood Housing was incorporated a month later.

"The so-called sourcing of material predates the establishment of Hardwood Housing Factory Inc., but at that time, the Barbados National Bank had expressed an interest in providing the finance to allow for the establishment of the company. But that would have been debt and was expensive. And the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) offered and delivered a business plan that was taken to the Enterprise Growth Fund (EGF), which was accepted," the former Opposition Leader added.

He said there was no other connection between himself and the company because "once the EGF got involved, I no longer had that sort of interest".

He added that matters such as who were hired or fired did not concern him, nor who went too close to someone and caused friction.

Regarding the $2 million given Hardwood by the EGF, Mascoll said the first $1 million was accounted for by February 22 this year in equipment, investment and training.

This, he added, was followed by an overdraft in September from BNB after the company didn't get any EGF funds between February and September 10.

The second tranche, another $1 million from the EGF, was used to pay that overdraft, Mascoll noted.

Turning to the allegation of bounced cheques, he said there were few small companies without cash flow problems. He added that the said cheques produced by Thompson had not been cashed but were recalled after it was recognised they had exceeded the limit. The recipients were honoured in five days, he added.

Accusing Thompson of being insensitive and taking the word of a disgruntled former manager, he said he had several pictures of Murrell in Grenada, proof that he was there between October and December 2004, had built 280 to 300 houses, and trained people to erect temporary structures. He also said Murrell's work was evident on two websites: www.crossroads.ca and www.samaritansfirst. org.

To loud thumping from the Government side, the Minister of State added: "I would do again what I did to assist Anthony Murrell or any other black, white, ordinary or not so ordinary man, to build houses for poor Barbadians. If that's not my remit, then I've chosen the wrong profession."

The Minister Of State Clyde Mascoll made a statement in the House of Assembly about Helping a Black man and he would do it all over again, but of interest is the Websites the Minister named in his defence or Murrell,s defence which seems to be serving as some RESUME for Murrell and the INVESTMENT of the Tax paying Barbadians Dollars to the tune of two million dollars. Minister Mascoll named www.samaritansfirst.org which is a site that the minister would have to tell us what we were looking for, the other site the Minister mentioned was www.crossroads.ca which is a Canadian family of Ministries located at 100 Huntley street , Ontario, Canada . With Ministries on Global Television every morning during the week. Those Ministries have to operate within the Guidelines of the Legislation of the Canadian Goverment. The Minister also pointed a picture at
a website in Canada, the minister should also take a look at Integrity Legislation, where a former
Prime Minister is recalled for taking allege Bribe money. What is the reason for not having Integrity
Legislation in Barbados ???? Parliamentarians are to be held accountable for their actions ,the same as the ordinary man in the street, where the Law Courts have the final say, that is true in most Parliamentary Democracies.
The Prime Minister is now saying he is going to move Heaven and Earth to make sure the DLP never holds the reign of Goverment again is it a Dictatorship in Barbados, Bajans beware, have a look at Chavez in Venezuella President for Life is his ambition, what is Prime Minister Owen Arthurs ? Remember the Prime Minister Owen Arthur's Goverment wanted to change the Constitution not too long ago. Also people are allowed to have a peacefull protest for their rights, that is how Barbadians got where there are today, peacefull protest, but beware the police and Army might be called with a desist and move order in the year 2007, where are your rights as ordinary Barbadians ?
Most people that take part in peacefull protest expect their rights will be protected under Law, and the purpose of the Police is to observe and make sure the protest remain peacefull. This Goverment is so agitated at present as it has lost its way ,now it will be propaganda as it is said the memory of a Bajan is short. The Goverment could have had Low interest loans for poor black people to build their homes through a contractor of their choice and funds destributed to the progress of the builder, that is my opinion ,Mr Mascoll in his capacity could have been working on such a program instead of Hardwood housing of which I see a cover up , now Mr Murrell is in todays paper saying he is no longer apart of Hardwood Housing. The Minister did not source Lumber , but the stories are different
from Murrell, The Minister .I will attach a statement from the Minister on December 5th 2007.

Thank you for your space.

Unfortunately, i think we played into the hands of the BLP when Kelly appeared last week; but i think that we should all band together and show them that we are band together. We also have to show them that there's no more internal fighting, BUT KELLY, I beg of you not go back to the "HOUSE" because that is a sign of us not being together.

Merry Christmas & a happy & properous New Year to you and your Family, and the Family of the Democratic Labour Party.
David keep up the fight for the People, it is sad to hear the issues affecting the people of Barbados in a Parliamentary Democracy built on the West Minister system of Goverment , with a Junior Minister being involve in what seems to be a conflict of interest with Hardwood Housing, his excuse poor Black man syndrome, yet I see the Chairman as Hoyos and the Director as Khan, so the Poor Black man syndrome is out the door, but in the Westminister system of Democracy and such issues are arrived at conflict of interest the minister resigns and sits as an MP untill his name is cleared , that would also be as an independant MP. What is lacking in Parliament from what I have read is serious commitment by the Goverment to debate on most issues that affect the people of Barbados. Mr Thompson you should go one further and have freedom of information legislation , the people could then ask for info on what the Goverment is doing, as it don't seem to me that Hansard reports go that far, integrity Legislation is a step in the right direction. Mr David Thompson I first heard you in Quakers road on the Platform of the Democratic Labour Party ,not as a candidate then but as someone who cared about the People Barbados then and Morally still do care today, as someone who have a family and knows what family life is about, who is not just projecting an image , but who have had that MORAL image from ones way of LIFE. GOD bless you and your Family.

I went to the meeting last night it was not only explosive,it was also full of dynamism ,action ,passion, conviction, clarity, purpose and honesty.Under the leadership of Mr David Thompson the DLP is very united and focus than under that turn coat, back stabbing, two timing clyde mascoll.I beg each and every one of you in the DLP not to be side track by the silly mouthing of the likes of mia mottley pertaining to the what she now wants us Bajans to believe that it was not the walking out but the way it was done, all the time it was the 'DLP'walk out of parliament after that did not wash with the public at large because as many people pointed out on the call in programmes this is not the first time there was a walk out,all of a sudden it change to the way the walking out was done.Your BLP PR gimmicks will not work this time so go back to the drawing and come again.Let your BLP PR team know that the days of impressions, smoke screens, pulling the wool over people's eyeshifting of blame, shifting the focus ect is over so the likes of george brawaithe, henderson bovell, tall boy, mark williams, senator linton and that fella from TNT roy can rest assure that the DLP will win the next elections with GOD as they guide.I know someone from the BLP will be reading this so that is why i posted it on the DLP site and not the BLP's own and also i have no need to be on their;s,only listening to a lot of fluff, lies and nonsense.
